ModernTech Opens

office on Daniel island

ModernTech, a reseller of 3D CAD and Engineering Technology for manufacturers in the Southeast, has opened a new office on Daniel Island at 146 Fairchild Street, Suite 180.

"Our presence in the Carolinas enhances the opportunity to expand in the Southeast and allows for us to have a large footprint in the coastal areas as a reseller of SolidWorks and Objet. We are very excited about discovering and getting to know the Charleston business base," says Jon Carlton, Vice President of ModernTech.

ModernTech provides solutions to solve the toughest mechanical design and engineering problems in industries such as Aerospace and Defense, Consumer Products, Electronics, Medical, Manufacturing, and many more. In addition to offering a variety of 3D technology products, ModernTech also provides training, support and services to customers across the Southeast and beyond.

"We are delighted ModernTech has made a decision to expand operations to Charleston," said Charleston Mayor, Joseph P. Riley, Jr. "As Charleston’s high-tech manufacturing economy expands, the leading-edge tools provided by ModernTech will become a great asset to our businesses."

ModernTech’s expansion to Charleston was facilitated by the City of Charleston’s Digital Corridor initiative. An open house at the new Charleston office is being scheduled and more information will be made available soon.

Benefitfocus to fund New Engineering

Scholarships

Daniel Island based Benefitfocus has created a scholarship program to provide funding for computer engineering students. Clemson University’s College of Engineering and Science will be the first school to receive funding, starting this semester.

"Technology is changing almost every aspect of our world, and Benefitfocus is committed to supporting the minds of future generations," said Shawn Jenkins, Benefitfocus President and CEO. "At Benefitfocus, we want to ensure students have the support they need to enter this rapidly-evolving industry," said Jenkins.

Benefitfocus, the nation’s largest cloud-based benefits technology provider, is headquartered in Charleston with an additional office in Greenville, which was opened in 2003 to attract skilled engineers from the upstate of South Carolina. Benefitfocus continues to grow its presence in Greenville and hire additional associates.

"At Benefitfocus, we are proud to have some of the best and brightest computer engineers in the industry; many of whom are Clemson alumni," said Jenkins. "By partnering with Clemson University, we are supporting the future of engineering and helping students who want to be part of developing game-changing software."

Scholarship recipients will also have the option to apply for select internships at Benefitfocus, providing the opportunity to gain real-world engineering experience and learn from the more than 300 engineering associates at Benefitfocus.
