Daniel Island Builder Elected to Charleston Home Builders Association Board

Richard Jackson, owner and president of Jackson Built Custom Homes, has been elected to the Charleston Home Builders Association board of directors for a one-year term.
The Charleston Home Builders Association is a non-profit organization working to promote home ownership in the Charleston area through networking, education, advocacy and community outreach.
Based on Daniel Island, Jackson runs the business with his wife, Kimberly, and design coordinator Allison Casper. They take great pride in their hands-on approach to building. In keeping with their company motto, “Design Smart, Build Beautiful,” they work with the architect from the beginning to create a home that reflects the homeowners’ needs while making the best use of the space and allotted budget.
Richard Jackson spent more than 10 years working as a lead builder and project manager for one of the largest home builders in the Southeast before starting his own company in 2009.
“I’m passionate about the craft of home building and giving my clients the best customer service I can,” Jackson said. “So I’m honored to be part of the Charleston Home Builders Association where I can promote home ownership and quality building practices to the greater Charleston region.”

Island Overstocks re-opens Mt. Pleasant location under new ownership
Island Overstocks, a purveyor of discount goods in Mt Pleasant, changed hands in mid-December, 2012. Tapp Palmer, previous owner, had planned on closing the warehouse and moving on to another venture, but the outcry from long time shoppers made him take another look. At the same time, frequent customer Kelley Murray decided the area needed the store, and stepped in.
"I have shopped here for years", said Kelley. "We have purchased everything from TVs to clothing, tools, furniture, everything, really." When a new shipment is announced, she said, locals flock to the store looking for deals only Island Overstocks can deliver.
Existing management will not change. Megan, Julie and Wendy will still run day-to-day operations. "The staff really made this transition easy, and everybody loves them when they come in to shop" said Kelley.
While inventory levels may have been low recently, the new owners are committed to bringing in as much product as the shoppers will buy. "We need to make sure the shelves are full and customers always have a nice selection of discounted items. They have taken time to visit us, and we promise to make sure that time is well spent!" said Kelley.
Island Overstocks is located at 1558 Ben Sawyer Blvd, open through the holiday season M-F 10-6, Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 1-5. Call with questions at 843-654-9674, or www.islandoverstocks.com.
