Alchemy takes place of TJ’s Beef & Brew with same owners, new chef
The owners of TJ’s Beef and Brew have changed the name, menu, and vibe of their restaurant at 245 Seven Farms Drive. Alchemy is the new moniker, and it favors a more upscale decor and sophisticated menu over the former family eatery/sports bar fare. “We wanted to create something that fit the island,” explains co-owner Tim Breckenridge, “And something that it didn’t have before.” With that in mind, Alchemy will feature 24 bottles of wine on tap for an innovative tasting and by-the-glass experience. A hefty 16 craft beers remain on draft, and restyled lunch and dinner menus offer such creations as lamb lollipops, smoked duck salad, and fresh ahi tuna. The patio is still open, and the restaurant is available for private parties or catering.

Black Tie Music Academy to offer lessons at Seven Farms Drive location
Charleston County School District 2011 Teacher-of-the-Year runner-up Braeden Kershner has been teaching music lessons on Daniel Island for three years, and is getting ready to open Black Tie Music Academy at 295-A Seven Farms Drive (former Island Overstocks location). Doors will open January 7, 2013, and classes will be available to all ages and ability levels. Curriculum will include beginning piano, guitar, ukulele, and mass choir, with future plans to offer steel drums, drumline, coffee-house “performance classes,” adult instrumental instruction, musical date nights, and summer camps. View class times and reserve your spot by visiting www.blacktiemusicacademy.com.

Hayden Jennings Properties moves office from Daniel Island to Mount Pleasant
Following discussions with The Daniel Island Company regarding a town center covenant provision that gives Daniel Island Real Estate exclusivity as the sole on-island real estate operations company, Hayden Jennings Properties moved its office off Daniel Island. With an expanding business, solid foundation on Daniel Island, and desire to further establish itself in the Mount Pleasant market, the real estate and property management outfit is taking this opportunity to broaden its reach, and will move to 900 Johnnie Dodds Boulevard as of December 1. Part-time office manager Holly Hayden is also joining the team on a full-time basis. Though leaving the space at 234 Seven Farms Drive, the group will continue to serve the Daniel Island market from their new office in Mount Pleasant.

A Floral Affair leaves Daniel Island
Nearly ten years after opening its doors on Daniel Island (first in the Publix Shopping Center and then at its last location on Seven Farms Drive), A Floral Affair retail store and floral studio has closed up shop on Daniel Island.

Talison Row Apartments begins leasing
One-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments are now available for lease at Talison Row Apartments, located at the end of Seven Farms Drive near Cochran Park. This first of nine buildings has 16 move-in ready apartment homes, with only a few remaining for lease. Pre-leasing has begun for the next phase, which will be ready for residents in December, with the entire community set for completion in spring 2013. Talison Row’s amenities, which include a 24-hour fitness center with separate yoga studio, outdoor summer kitchen, and round-the-clock Internet lounge, are complete and ready to use. The salt-water pool and cabanas will open with the return of warmer weather.
