The Daniel Island Garden Club celebrated a very successful year with a meeting and reception at the home of Peggy and Jack Slapcinsky.  Members then enjoyed a tour of the beautiful gardens of Jean Hinds, Bob and Kay Uhler, Bob and Ellie Sauer and Jack and Peggy Slapcinsky! Above, Bob Uhler and Jack Slapcinsky discuss the gardens with other member of the club.
"Daniel Island, Ours to Beautify and Conserve."

The Garden Club’s faithfulness to this mission statement has contributed heavily to the success of the Garden Club and made it the oldest (founded in 1998) and most popular (current membership 70 men and women) social club on Daniel Island.

We use the diverse expertise of our Master Gardeners, our Horticultural Society members, our experienced gardeners and our enthusiastic neophytes to beautify and conserve the natural resources and wildlife of Daniel Island.

During the ten year life span of The Garden Club we have collaborated with the Property Owners Association, the elementary school, the library, Summit Place Assisted Living and the Community Fund to implement projects related to gardening and fundraising. These projects have financed books and computers for children and adults as well as provided volunteers for Daniel Island events.

Gardening in the lowcountry is a new experience for many of us from "off." The Garden Club offers the opportunity to learn about gardening through speakers, field trips and the exchange of information among members and guests.

We meet on the second Wednesday of each month, September through May at 2 p.m. in the Sanctuary of Providence Baptist Church at 294 Seven Farms Road, Daniel Island.

Membership dues are $15 annually. Membership is open to all DI residents. Knowledge of gardening is not required.
