When it comes to mulching your landscape, there are many different types of mulch to choose from. All mulches help to cut back on weed growth, retain moisture, and enhance the overall appearance of any landscape design. So, which mulch is best for your next application?
If you’re starting with a new landscape or looking to amend your soil, then a pine or hardwood mulch is your best choice. These two products will last around a year and breakdown nicely into your soil. We recommend that you turn your mulch over in the flower beds every 3 months to help keep it looking fresh thus preventing a matted down look to your mulch.
If you’re looking for a mulch that’s longevity is more than just a year, then a colored mulch is your best choice. Black, Brown, and Red Cypress mulches are a very popular choice when selecting a mulch because of its durability. These colored cypress mulches are actually the wood of the tree and are colored so their fading factor takes about 15 months to fade away.
Whether you enjoy working in the yard or you are one that tackles the mulch application once a year, we at Lowcountry Mulch have a variety of mulches, pine straws, soils, and compost to help assist in your next landscaping project.
