Julian V. Brandt of the St. Thomas and St. Denis Society leads a discussion on the church’s history. This picture was taken from the building’s interior balcony.

This peaceful site was once the scene of an infamous political gun fight that claimed the lives of six men. Known as the Cainhoy Massacre, the 1716 racially-charged event was sparked by a confrontation between black Republicans and white Democrats.

This tombstone on the grounds of St. Thomas Church marks the grave of Samuel Sanders (1831-1906) and his wife, Emma Cockroft (1833-1899).
