Bill Thielfoldt, Jon Archer, Ryan Gilsenan and John Bauknight are joined by young helpers, Liam Gilsenan and Conor Gilsenan.

As this season’s work draws to a close I’d like to thank all of the volunteers who made the Daniel Island Pruning Project such a huge success! The teams worked in all the neighborhoods across the island pruning close to two thousand trees over this past year.  We received tremendous support from the Property Owners Association who provided some key equipment and from the Charleston Department of Urban Forestry who responded to the special situations beyond our capability that we encountered along the way.
While we are essentially completed with the effort for now, I realize that there may be areas that we may have missed. If so, please feel free to contact me and we’ll get it taken care of. Meantime, if you see any of the team members whose names are listed below please extend a word of thanks for their hard work: John Bauknight, Mark Lindsay, Bob Sauer, David Burnstein, Bobby Manutes, Ray Schipani, John Common, Mac McBride, Joe Simas, Brenda Cook, Kevin McMurtry, Jack Slapcinsky, John Edelen, Slade Metcalf, Tom Smith, Lydia Freilich, Stewart Milller, Pete Stirling, Ryan Gilsenan, Jim Morrill, Bill Thielfoldt, Bill Goff, Butch Phillippi, Lee Thorpe, Gerry Hall, Linda Phillippi, Howard Wolff, Hugh Haynesworth, Beth Quantz, Bob Wood, Jim Hitchings, Tom Richards, Quincy Zimmerman.
Residents and business owners have told us that we’ve actually made a noticeable improvement in the appearance of the neighborhoods as well as the town itself.  And we actually had fun doing it! You can reach Bob Sauer at
