Thanks to neighbors
for helping contain fire

While getting dinner ready on a recent evening, we heard a pounding on our front door and were told that a fire was burning on the side of our house. Within minutes, our neighbors showed up with hoses, buckets and even a pitcher filled with water to help us even as the fire department was being called. Fortunately, the fire was contained without any significant damage, with the exception of some burned landscaping. We would sincerely like to say thank you to all of our neighbors along Merchant Street who came to our aid rather than remain in the safety of their homes and not get involved.  It is reassuring to know that neighbors care enough to help. This is just one of the truly remarkable things that makes Daniel Island such a wonderful place to live.

Scholarship meeting
to be held Nov. 8

The Daniel Island Community Fund was established in 2004 to support programs that enhance the future, enrichment, health, welfare and culture of Daniel Island, St. Thomas Island, Wando, Huger and Cainhoy Communities.  One of the most successful programs that the Daniel Island Community Fund has offered is a scholarship program at Bishop England High School. Over 21 students have been assisted either with full or partial scholarships since the program began.
Scholarships to Bishop England (both full and partial) are awarded based 100% on need and cover tuition costs, fees, uniform allowance and textbooks. All eighth grade students living in the 29492 or 29450 zip codes, which are the Daniel Island, Clements Ferry, Cainhoy, Wando or Huger Communities, are eligible and encouraged to apply. An information session for interested parents will be held at the Daniel Island Real Estate Office Conference Room at 101 River Landing Drive on Thursday, November 8 from 6:00-7:30 pm.
We encourage you to attend the information session and learn more about the Daniel Island Community Fund Bishop England scholarship program.
