Blood pressure medicines and side effects

There is a lot of concern with the public that blood pressure medicines have significant side effects. It you have blood pressures higher than they should be for your age and your medical conditions, then I tell my patients that the biggest side effect is longevity.

Twenty-five years ago when I first started in this business, the medicines had lots of side effects. There has been so much pressure on the pharmaceutical industry that the newer medicines have side effect profiles equal to placebos. With the new generation of medicines available, issues such as fatigue, cough and sexual dysfunction are very rare occurrences.
