Daniel Island Academy has added a new music program for all full-day classes from one year olds to kindergarten students.

The music program is lead by Wendy Robbins, a graduate of Salem College in Winston Salem, North Carolina, with studies in studio arts, music and theory, theater, and writing. Previously Ms. Robbins was the founder, director and teacher of a preschool located in Walterboro for seven years before moving to Charleston.

"Music stimulates cognitive, physical, social and emotional development at all ages," state Kerry Nowosielski, school director. "While our teachers use music daily as an integral part of their classroom’s curriculum, Wendy will work closely with them to enhance their students’ learning experience through song, chants, movement, dramatic play, and simple musical instrument play."

In addition to the school’s new music program, a Spanish immersion class and library program have been added to its curriculum, which is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Daniel Island Academy is an early childhood education center offering full-time, part-time, mother’s morning out, and enrichment programs for children aged 1 though 6 years. For more information, please visit the school’s Web site at www.danielislandacademy.com or call the front desk at 971.5961. Private tours may be scheduled upon request.
