Bishop England won two Class AA state championships in the last two years but Hanahan has the momentum as the two home team rivals match up against each other on Friday night at Bishop England’s Jack Cantey Stadium. The game starts at 7:30 pm.
The Hawks come to Daniel Island to take on the Battling Bishops after winning and dominating their first two games of the season.  Last week they ended a 10-game losing streak against Timberland, routing the Wolves, 41-0. The week prior, the Hawks put up even more impressive offensive numbers, hammering the Military Magnet, 67-14.
The Hawks are led by first year starting quarterback Mason Schwerzler, running back Quan Wade and senior wide receiver Terrell Green. Wade rushed for over 200 yards against Timberland, including a 91-yard run for one of his two touchdowns.
The Class AA Bishops were defeated soundly by Class AAAA West Ashley last week, 6-28. But, the Bishops will have an opportunity Friday night to avenge their only loss of a year ago, when Hanahan topped the Bishops in a close game that came down to the fourth quarter.
Hanahan is currently ranked third in the state in Class AAA. Bishop England is ranked ninth in the state in Class AA.
The word from both coaches, as reported last week, is that fan support is huge. Come out Friday night at 7:30 pm and support your teams!
