A group of middle school students from the Daniel Island School put their science and engineering skills to the test at the “3rd Annual Storm the Citadel” trebuchet competition on Saturday, February 16.  The students, with help from teachers and parents, worked over several weeks to design and build their hand-painted trebuchet for the event, which attracted schools from all across the Lowcountry. Crafted using specific measurements and criteria, each trebuchet had to be capable of accurately tossing a ball between 50 and 200 feet.

After months of preparation, including planning and building their own trebuchet, DIS students and their teachers, Anastasia Carroll and Brandy Ramey, were ready to take to Summerall Field at the Citadel.
