Q & A with Coach Patterson

Q: What are your goals for this season?

A: Our main goal is to play as a team and not be

selfish.

Q: How do your skill positions, quarterback and running

back, look?

We have very good players at the skill positions. We have four

good receivers, a good quarterback and a couple of good running backs. QB Derek Coblentz; WR’s Irim Aiken, Pat Alston, Chris Brown, Ryan Manor; RB- Monti Richardson

Q: What are your strengths on offense?

A Throwing the ball. QB has a strong and accurate arm. We have receivers that catch well and have speed.

Q: What are you strengths on defense?

A: We have big interior linemen to keep us from getting knocked

off the ball and fast linebackers to run the plays down.

Q: How are your special teams?

A: We have a good kicker in Tyler Clem and a good long

snapper in John Piggott

Q: What did you do well at Sertoma and where are you
looking for improvement?

A: We didn’t do well at Sertoma, but we beat a good

Hartsville team on Friday night in a real game.

Q: Who is the team to beat in your region? Why?

A: According to all the "experts" it is Woodland, I guess

it is because they have a QB that is going to Clemson.

Q & A with Coach Cantey

Q: What are your goals for this season?

A: We want to win the region, which is probably the most difficult one in

the state, three teams went to the third round of the playoffs or further last year.

Q: How do your skill positions, quarterback and running back, look?

A: Mikell Fosberry is starting at QB for the 3rd year. Andrew Bunch had a huge year last year as a sophomore at running back. Griffie Loy, Nick Theos, Camron Swails, and Deangelo Stephenson should also make big contributions at RB. Danny Croghan will get time at QB as back up, but is good.

Q: What are your strengths on offense?

A: Three returning starters Austin Knisley, Daniel Engel, Del McCusker; new starters Adam Dobbins, Malcom Nazon; experienced backfield.

Q: What are you strengths on defense?

A: Defensive Line: Joe Tompkins, Nate Back, Jimmy Moore, LB: Camron Swails, Griffie Loy, Danny Croghan.

Q: How are your special teams?

A: Average.

Q: What did you do well at Sertoma and where are you looking for improvement?

A: We moved the ball well on offense, need to work on our run defense. We are opening this Thursday home vs. West Ashley at 7:30, and it’s going to be televised live on WMMP Comcast Ch. 13.

Q: Who is the team to beat in your region? Why?

A: Timberland, Manning, Lake City.
