Berkeley County Supervisor Dan Davis will hold a meeting at the Daniel Island Library on September 9 and Councilman Gary White will hold one the night before on September 8. Both meetings will be at the Daniel Island Berkeley County Library.
White, City Council member from District 1, will host a series of Town Hall meetings beginning September 7th through September 9th, 2010. During the meetings, Council member White will update residents on issues affecting their neighborhoods as well as offer an opportunity for citizens to ask questions.
Council member White will hold three meetings, one in each of the distinct portions of his district; Daniel Island, Downtown and James Island. The first meeting will be held on the Peninsula on September 7th from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Charleston County Library on Calhoun Street. On the agenda for the Downtown meeting, White will discuss traffic improvements and provide updates on several neighborhood projects. The second meeting will be held on Daniel Island on September 8th from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Berkeley County Library at 2301 Daniel Island Drive. White will focus his presentation at the Daniel Island meeting on updating residents regarding parks, parking improvements and economic development projects. The third meeting, hosted by Council member White and Council member Kathleen Wilson, will be held on James Island on September 9th from 7 to 8 p.m. at the new Stiles Point Elementary School. At the James Island meeting, White and Wilson will provide updates on utility improvements and roadway development projects. All meetings, although geared to residents of District 1, are open to the public.
Dan Davis will begin holding community meetings the second Thursday of each month. Mr. Davis will invite the councilmember from the district where the meeting is held to join him in meeting with the citizens of that area.
His first meeting will be held on Daniel Island on Sept 9.
"During my re-election campaign, I had the opportunity to speak with many different citizens across the county," said Davis in a press release issue from his office, "I made the decision that if I was re-elected, I would make a point to go to each community so I could personally meet with the people and discuss their thoughts on what is happening in their district and Berkeley County as a whole."
This new initiative kicks off on Thursday, September 9th from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Daniel Island Library.
"I’ll be visiting every district," says Davis. Additionally, Davis will hold Open Forum meetings in the Berkeley County Council Chambers for anyone who would like to come and meet with him. These meetings will begin in October and held once a quarter.
"I’m still maintaining my open door policy," explained Davis, "People can still come to my office to speak to me at any time. However, I recognize the need for these Community Meetings and Open Forums. I want to offer citizens a variety of options to interact with me and express what is on their minds".
