The 4th Annual Rotary Charity Duck Race, which included 30,000 rubber ducks being dropped off of the I-526 Wando Bridge, was a major Lowcountry fundraising success. The efforts conducted by The Rotary Club of Daniel Island along with the participation of four additional local Rotary Clubs including Charleston, East Cooper Breakfast (Mt. Pleasant) Club, North Charleston Breakfast Club and Summerville, helped the Rotary Charity Duck Race raise $150,000 for area charities and Rotary service programs.
The charities selected as primary beneficiaries of the 2010 Duck Race were: Tri-county Family Ministries, East Cooper Community Outreach, Carolina Youth Development Center, Cainhoy Athletic Soccer Club, Dee Norton Lowcountry Children’s Center, American Red Cross, Lowcountry Food Bank, My Sister’s House, East Cooper Meals-On-Wheels, Windwood Farm, Summerville Miracle League and Gift of Life. Donations were also made to other Lowcountry non-profit organizations.
The 2010 Rotary Charity Duck Race was made possible with the help of its Million Dollar sponsor Student Transportation of America, its Platinum sponsors Daniel Island Real Estate and Carnival Cruise Lines and its many Gold and Silver sponsors. Also playing a significant role in the success of this fundraising event were media sponsors: Citadel Broadcasting, Live 5 News and The Daniel Island News.
