This week we enjoyed several days of spring-like weather. Given the unusually warm conditions, water temperatures jumped five degrees and the fish became very active. Schools of mullet returned to the shallows and the Redfish and Trout were feeding aggressively. The Z-Man MinnowZ Bad Shad (which looks like a mullet in the water) was simply irresistible to the Redfish and Trout. After weeks of tough winter conditions and reduced catch rates, the warm spell and hot bite were a very welcome change. If the warm trend continues, call in sick with a bad case of the fish-flu. I hear it is reaching near epidemic levels! Take my word for it, you will feel sick if you miss the warm weather and hungry fish.
The weather and the fishing have been so good, that I went fishing when I should have been writing this article. So please forgive the abridged fishing report. Take my lead, drop what you are doing and go fishing now.
