Flying Fish drop home opener
Severe weather continued to delay the Daniel Island Swim Team’s entry into the Red League of the CCAA. On Tuesday, June 16, the Flying Fish weathered the storm and traveled to Parkshore in the hopes that the dark clouds would move on and the Fish would swim. When the storm wouldn’t pass, both teams agreed to reschedule the meet to Monday, July 6. All eyes then turned to Thursday, June 18, when Daniel Island hosted the perennial CCAA Champions, Snee Farm. But Snee Farm proved to be too much for the younger team and Daniel Island lost their home opener and ended a three year winning streak at Pierce Pool.
Even with the 330-206 loss, coaches Bailey Clark, Alex Gray, Foster Matthews and Rose Van Metre were very complimentary of their team’s races. "Not disappointed with our score, we still have pockets to fill in each age group and that will take place over the next one to two years," said Coach Van Metre. "I see improvement in every age group each year and that excites me."
