On Monday, July 6 the Daniel Island Swim Team traveled to West Ashley to take on the Parkshore Piranhas. This last in-league meet of the season was a nail bitter but the Flying Fish prevailed and raced to 290-242 victory. By beating Parkshore, Daniel Island secured a tie for third place with Parkshore as both teams finished the season with a 4-2 record in the red league.

The following evening, July 7, the Flying Fish hosted their last home meet of the 2009 season against the Pine Forest Porpoises. The Flying Fish again came out on top with a score of 357-180. Last week’s victories moved the Flying Fish to a 6-2 overall record for the 2009 CCAA summer league season.

With the regular season complete, the Flying Fish are now preparing for the CCAA Championship Meet, taking place at the Jewish Community Center from Sunday, July 19 through Tuesday, July 21. Individual events for 7-8 boys and girls, 9-10 boys and girls and 11-12 girls take place on Sunday, July 19. The 11-12 boys, 13-14 girls and boys, and 15-18 girls and boys compete in individual events on Monday, July 20. The last evening of the City Meet is always exciting as the medley relays and free relays are held on Tuesday, July 21.

Admission is free, parking at the JCC is $3.

Come on out and cheer on the Flying Fish!
