A Birthday to Remember

One of the most romantic memories of my 22 years of marriage was the day my husband surprised me at my office when he showed up in a tuxedo with a dozen roses...

You see we’d been married for 10 years and it was my birthday. My husband was in a traveling job at the time. He would leave on Monday mornings at 6:00 am and come back home on Friday afternoons at 6:00 pm. I was at home with my then 8 year old and 2 year old daughters. It was my birthday and it was Monday. We had celebrated my birthday as a family the previous weekend. My husband got up and got dressed and left for the airport just like every other Monday morning. I got the girls ready for the day and then headed off to work myself.

Unbeknownst to me, my husband had arranged with his parents to pick up the girls from school that afternoon and agreed to keep them at their home for the evening. You see, my husband never got on the airplane that morning. Instead, he came back home and waited until the middle of the afternoon and surprised me at my office. He walked in to my office wearing a tuxedo and holding a dozen roses. We walked outside and there was a Limo waiting to take us out for an evening of dinner and dancing. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination but it was one of the most romantic evenings of my life!
