My story began 20 years ago when, late as usual, I stumbled into Algebra class. Being that it was one of the few seats remaining I quickly scanned the room and strategically placed myself in a vacant seat next to her. To me it was love at first sight. Crazy thoughts filled my mind to the point where Algebra became a blur, and I knew that she was the one I could spend the rest of my life with. After graduation and unforeseen circumstances, we left Colorado. She moved to California and I found myself pursuing a career of Architecture in Charleston. All was going well for me yet still, something was missing, for we had lost touch with one another. I called everyone I knew, including her sorority house in hopes of discovering a forwarding address or phone number.

No such luck, until six months later, a mutual friend told me he had seen her and happened to get her phone number. I then called her and correspondence along with high phone bills flourished. I asked her to please come out and visit if only just for a few days for I knew that time may not give another chance. The most romantic of moments was the time spent with her during her visit, picnic lunches during sunset on the beach, listening to tapes, and taking leisurely walks downtown. As the end of her stay would draw to a close, I knew the time had come where it would be now or never. So I proposed to her at James Island Yacht Club. She soon moved here and were married a year later. Since that day and all the days before, and after sixteen years of marriage, there isn’t one particular romantic moment I can pinpoint since all moments with her are forever the most memorable of my life. And for that, I am forever grateful.
