Magic

During the time I needed to be alone and heal
You showed up with a smile and warm appeal.
I considered your invitations with a bit of doubt
However, I let you take me out.
We danced the first night until two
Shagging away to the blues…
Moving, swaying, laughing, teasing
Seemed to bring out of me some easing.
A warm sunny day followed with a trip on your boat
Escorting me to tidal creeks where we would sit and
float.
Balmy breezes, birds, fish and shifting tides
Tempted me to come back for another ride.
The night proved exciting with plans to dine
So I dolled up to be all ready at nine.
Opening doors, lightly touch with care
Impressed mea s it seemed so rare.
McCrady’s offered much, with wine and roses,
Sweet champagne tickled our noses.
Looking at you over the low candlelight,
I began to sense such delight.
Later, at my door, you surprised me once again,
As you cradled my face with your hands.
Whispering, breathing…so close to me
Kissing then came so very naturally.
As you bend down to touch your lips to mine,
I lifted up on my toes to meet the sublime.
No, you said, you don’t need to come to me
As I will always come to where you will be.
Magis what that moment was five years ago
To help me fall in love with you so.
The healing you have brought to my heart
With help to keep us from growing apart.
Dedicated to my salty dog, tennis machine, living man, Danny Mathewes from his Sunshine, with love.
