Daniel Island Sixth Graders Anderson Dreyer and Christian Greavu lost a bet to a girl friend, Emma Pizzo when she and her flag football team defeated Anderson and Christian’s team. If she won, they had to wear a skirt to school all day.

She won the bet and they kept their words!!

Best thing about wearing a skirt: "Well, we did get a LOT of attention!!!"

The Burton-Meyer Group, a Daniel Island based investment firm, recently held a 3-on-3 basketball tournament with eight teams that raised over $1,600 for the local Red Cross Heroes for Fire Victims campaign to sponsor families who have been victims of house fires. The winners were Cam Olson, Dr. Thomas Murphy and Tyler Dudley (2nd, 3rd and 4th from left). The second place team was Chris Gregory (far left), Dr. Shaun Scott (2nd from right) and Frank Jennings (far right). Daniel Island Garden Club

The Daniel Island Garden Club will meet at the Providence Baptist Church on Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012 at 1:00 PM. Mike Dawson, Director of the Audubon Center at the Francis Beidler Forest, will discuss his 31 years at this preserve working for the National Audubon Society. Prospective members are always welcomed.

Bishop England Belles Dance Camp

Girls ages 5 through 13 are invited to take part in a special "Belles Dance Camp" offered by the Bishop England Belles Dance Team on Saturday, February 11. The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the BEHS gym. Participants will learn dance routines, choreography ideas, and the joy of dancing with a group. Supervision will be provided by coaches, dance team parents, and school faculty. Campers will be grouped by age. No dance experience is necessary. The fee to participate is $35 (snacks are included). The team will use proceeds from the camp to help defray costs as they prepare to compete at the UDA National Competition in Orlando, Florida, March 3 – 4. WATCH MEETING

On Thursday, February 16, the City of Charleston Police Department will host an information meeting on forming a Neighborhood Watch program on Daniel Island. The meeting will address why Neighborhood Watch programs can be beneficial to communities, as well as how residents can be "eyes and ears" for officers in terms of alerting them to suspicious activity. It’s Back…The Daniel Island Property Owners Association is thrilled to announce "Pork n’ Pearls" a Pig and Oyster Roast, benefitting Windwood Farm Home for Children, will be held on Daniel Island, Feb. 25. This party, one part "swank" and the other part "down home" will run from 3 – 7 p.m. at the Pierce Park Pavilion.
