Book Signing

Daniel Island’s “SUNDOWN ON THE WANDO” Riverfront Music Concert
You asked for it and we’re bringing it back!! Save the date for Sundown on the Wando Riverfront Music Concert featuring Heart and Soul, Friday June 1, 6-9 pm at Children’s Park (end of River Landing Drive on the banks of the Wando River)– share it with friends - and join us for a free, riverfront concert on Daniel Island. Mix and mingle at this family-friendly event and enjoy the music while catching the breezes off the river. No gate admission/ticket needed. Bring your own picnic, beverages, lawn chair or blanket. Parking available in fields adjacent to Daniel Island Sales & Information Center. Event is open to the general public. Pets must be leashed and supervised. The concert will be held the night before the “Rotary Club Charity Duck Race” – same venue - so be sure to drop by the Duck Race Tent while at the concert and “adopt” your winning ducks and possibly win a Million Bucks! Learn to Crab
The Charleston Parks Conservancy will host Learn to Crab 8-10 am Tuesday, June 5 and 8:30-10 am Wednesday, June 6 at the Daniel Island Waterfront Park Pier, 101 River Landing Drive on Daniel Island. Cost: $20 per person. Learn about the South Carolina swimmer, Callinectes sapidus. Each participant will receive a drop net to rig and take home after the class. Bait is supplied. Class is catch and release, but if you want, bring a cooler to take home crabs larger than 5 inches. All participants must be registered. Children ages 5 and up are welcome to register but must be accompanied by a paid and registered chaperone age 18 or older. Must pre-register; class size is limited. Daniel Island Kids Fishing Tournament
The Second Annual Daniel Island Kids Fishing Tournament sponsored by the Daniel Island Inshore Fishing Club and presented by Scout Boats will be held on Saturday, June 16, Father’s Day Weekend, at Smythe Park Lake. Children ages 5 to 15 of families who reside or work on Daniel Island are eligible to enter as anglers in the tournament. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Eligible species are largemouth bass, bream, mullet, and red drum (Spottail bass), all catch and release. Awards will be given for the largest fish and most fish caught of these species, plus an award for a “Mystery Fish” of any other species caught. The penultimate award is the Grand Champion Award for the biggest fish of the four eligible species caught in the tournament. No fishing license is required. Angler registration forms and tournament instructions can be found at various locations throughout Daniel Island including Publix, Qwik Pack & Ship, DIG (Daniel Island Grille), Daniel Island Library, DIPOA, and Suntrust Bank. Pre-registration is requested, $5 per angler; onsite registration at the tournament $8 per angler. Please check in at the Registration Table at Smythe Park between 8am and 8:30 am on the day of the Tournament to receive your Tournament Kit. Fishing will be from 9 am to noon, followed by an Awards Ceremony and refreshments provided by Publix. New storm surge map reveals DI's vulnerability to hurricanes

Emergency management officials caution that the above new storm surge map for Daniel Island is based on a worst-case scenario hurricane. The revised data was obtained using a variety of models, including one that determines threats based on topographic elevations. Areas in red represent potential storm surge in a category one storm. Pink areas reflect elevations that would be impacted in a category two storm and orange areas might see rising waters in a category three storm. The highest elevations on the island are denoted in yellow and green and could be impacted by storm surge in category four and five storms respectively. The new storm surge map was produced by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and FEMA.
