NEW LUXURY APARTMENT HOMES DEBUT AT CAINHOY POINTE

The Berry Companies and Big Cypress Capital recently announced the opening of Cainhoy Pointe, a gated luxury apartment community adjacent to the Cainhoy Plantation master-planned community located directly off the Clements Ferry Road corridor.

The new phase of Cainhoy Pointe consists of 110 luxury apartments in five buildings off Jack Primus Road. The complex will include expansive amenity space featuring a resident lounge, game room, cyber café, demonstration kitchen, fitness center, yoga studio and business center, all overlooking a private lagoon and wooded preserve from an oversized deck. A community pool, fire pit, walking paths and dog park are also featured.

According to its developers, Cainhoy Pointe combines modern amenities with an inviting, neighborhood feel. The spacious new one- and two-bedroom apartments range in size from 817 square feet to 1,057 square feet, with large open kitchens and high-end finishes such as designer cabinetry, dual marble vanities, walk-in closets, granite countertops and wood-style plank flooring. Each three-story building will feature a video access control system and high-speed gigabit fiber Internet service, a first for area apartments. Resident garages and climate-controlled storage will also be available for lease. Apartment homes in the first building are now available, with construction on the amenity center and final building expected to be completed in August.

Located at 1030 Jack Primus Road, the new units are adjacent to the existing 72-unit initial phase of the project, originally developed in 2008 as condominiums. The developers currently own and have renovated and converted 27 of the initial phase units into apartment units and are working on improvements such as updated landscape architecture and other cohesive common area theming that will benefit and create value for the entire community.

The apartment community is located next to Cainhoy Plantation, one of Charleston’s most anticipated master-planned developments, which will total 9,100 acres and is expected to eventually include over 18,000 housing units plus restaurants, retail and other commercial space.

Cainhoy Plantation’s first residential subdivision, Cainhoy South, was approved in December 2016 and will be comprised of 235 single family homes on a 228-acre parcel of land that will include several lakes and 17 acres of neighborhood parks and greenways. According to The Daniel Island Company, Cainhoy Plantation’s master developer, new home sales at Cainhoy South are expected to begin in December 2018.

Signage was also recently erected by Stiles Corporation signaling Cainhoy Plantation’s first grocery-anchored neighborhood shopping center. Two new state-of-the-art schools located within Cainhoy Plantation, Philip Simmons Elementary and Philip Simmons Middle, opened last fall. Nearby Philip Simmons High is expected to open in August.

“With proximity to many of the area’s top employers, acclaimed schools and Cainhoy Plantation’s transformational master-planned development, Cainhoy Pointe offers residents one of the most desirable new locations in the market,” said Tony Berry, president of The Berry Companies.

“The Cainhoy Pointe project is yet another great example of how an asset that temporarily fell victim to the 2008 market correction has been transformed through a well-coordinated ‘build-to-core’ investment strategy implemented and executed by a highly talented and experienced multifunctional team of professionals that we have had the privilege to successfully collaborate with on similar projects in the Carolinas,” added Max Mazzone, principal of Big Cypress Capital.

Liberty Solutions is the general contractor for Cainhoy Pointe, and John Tarkany Associates of Charleston is the project’s landscape architecture firm. The community’s leasing center and clubhouse (“The Pointe”) is being designed by BB+M Architecture of Charlotte, N.C.

RAM Partners is the property manager and Sales Inc! is leading the project’s leasing efforts. For more information, visit www.cainhoypointe.com or call (843) 856-1120.

DI RESIDENT/BUSINESS OWNER TO DEBUT NEW SPEAKER SERIES

Daniel Island resident Ben Sands, who co-owns Fit Culture on the island with his wife, Sarah, has a new project on the horizon. Later this month, Sands will launch a speakers series featuring leaders from business, political and non-profit sectors.

“The new speaker series is a way for me to scratch my own itch,” said Sands, who is also an executive coach and founder of Sands Leadership, a firm that creates engaged, high-performing teams. “I believe that in order to grow, personally and professionally, you need to be constantly feeding the mind with new ideas and perspective.”

Sands notes that he is a big fan of the Daniel Island Speaker Series and wanted to complement that with a forum about people “who are leading today - in new and novel ways,” he said.

Most of the events in the Sands Leadership Speaker Series will feature a short talk/lecture by the guest and then a sit-down interview and discussion, a format Sands has dubbed “Charlie Rose-style,” featuring questions that he has sourced from the audience in advance.

“I am really excited about it and I am hopeful that the rest of the island will share my enthusiasm!” added Sands.

The first program in the new series will be held on April 26 at 6 p.m. at Holy City Collective on Thomas Island. The guest speaker will be South Carolina Gubernatorial Candidate Catherine Templeton.
