DI RESIDENT DONNA SEWARD JOINS CAROLINA ONE

The Broad Street office of Carolina One Real Estate Services recently welcomed Donna J. Seward of Daniel Island to the company’s downtown team of real estate professionals.

A native of Chicago, IL, Seward has resided in cities as diverse as Chicago, Fox Chapel, PA, Vero Beach, FL and Glen Arbor, MI. At Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL, Seward concentrated her studies in both English and journalism.

Before embarking on a 25-year career in real estate, Seward was a member of the management team of the prestigious Oak Brook Polo Club, the largest summer polo facility in the US.

Prior to moving to Charleston 11 years ago, she enjoyed a very successful career with the Crawford Group Sotheby’s International Realty in Hinsdale, IL. In Charleston, she continued her affiliation with Sotheby’s International before joining Carolina One.

ROCK SOLID GYMNASTICS OPENS ON CAINHOY PENINSULA

Rock Solid Gymnastics LLC has signed a lease to occupy 5,700 square feet of commercial space at 450 Deanna Lane off Clements Ferry Road. Jon Chalfie and Hailey Clifton of Lee & Associates Charleston represented the tenant in the lease and the landlord, Mar Flex Warehouse LLC, was represented by Edward Oswald of Oswald Cooke & Associates.

Rock Solid Gymnastics moved into suites D, E and F at the site on September 1. The company is “dedicated to teaching gymnastics excellence to children of all ages and abilities in a safe, stimulating and encouraging environment while also instilling strong character virtues that will inspire them to be pillars in their community for years to come,” stated a press release.

DI NEWS SALES TEAM EARNS MULTIPLE ADVERTISING AWARDS

The Daniel Island News sales team earned 11 awards in the South Carolina Press Association’s 2018 PALMY Advertising Contest. Art director/graphic designer Jan Marvin and advertising sales representatives Ronda Schilling, Trudy Hicks and Suzanne Detar were each recognized for their outstanding efforts. The competition annually honors the best print and digital newspaper advertising in South Carolina. According to the SCPA, this year’s winners come from 502 very strong print and digital entries submitted by 28 SCPA member newspapers.

The contest recognizes and promotes individual efforts by advertising staffs of South Carolina newspapers, encourages creativity in advertising sales, layout and copy writing, and fosters excellence in newspaper advertising, which in turn produces maximum results for newspaper advertisers.

Following are the specific awards earned by Daniel Island News staff members and advertisers.

Second place – Professional Services, under 8,500 division: Ronda Schilling, Jan Marvin and Wanderlust Travel Boutique for “Dear Charleston, It’s not you, it’s me…”

First place – Furniture, under 8,500 division: Jan Marvin, Trudy Hicks and DeGuise Interiors for “Winter White Sale.”

Second place – Furniture, under 8,500 division: Jan Marvin, Trudy Hicks and DeGuise Interiors for “Over 30 years of creating beautiful homes.”

Second place – Automotive, under 8,500 division: Jan Marvin, Suzanne Detar and Refuel for “Save money now!”

Third place – Fashion, under 8,500 division: Jan Marvin, Suzanne Detar and Lowcountry Styles for “Special 2 Day Showing.”

Second place – Restaurants/Night Life, under 8,500 division: Jan Marvin, Suzanne Detar and Sermet’s Courtyard for “Thank you.”

Third place – Health Services, under 8,500 division: Jan Marvin, Ronda Schilling and O’Neill Plastic Surgery for “Coolsculpting.”

Second place – ¼ and less than ½ page, open division: Daniel Island News staff and Workplace Benefits for “Do you find health insurance scary?”

Second place – use of color, under 8,500 division: Jan Marvin, Trudy Hicks and Island Expressions for “Decorating? Need bows?”

Third place – merchant group or sig page, under 8,500 division: Jan Marvin for “Holiday Gift Guide.”

Third place – Newspaper Promotion, under 8,500 division: Jan Marvin and Suzanne Detar for “Color My World Photo Contest.”
