DI Community Center remains on track for mid-2018 groundbreaking
The new Daniel Island Community Recreation Center planned for Governors Park is still on schedule to break ground in mid-2018, as recently confirmed by City of Charleston Director of the Department of Parks Jason Kronsberg and City Councilman Gary White.
In most recent news for the center, the City has hired an architect to handle design and construction documents, Kronsberg explained.
“We completed the procurement required selection process for an architect,” said Kronsberg. “We are currently establishing a program and scope so the architect can prepare a fee proposal/design contract once City Council approves. The next step will begin design.”
Once the City breaks ground on the facility, White estimates that the entire project will take 12 to 18 months for construction.
At this time, City officials could not provide a rendering of the building, as the project is nearing the design phase.
