Pandemic shouldn’t keep you from seeing dentist

Even during a pandemic, dental care is a necessary part of staying healthy. Dr. Rebecca Zechmann of River Landing Dentistry and her staff follow strict protocols to ensure the process of protecting your teeth is safe and stress-free.

When the lockdowns hit, River Landing Dentistry started offering telemedicine visits and began prepping the office.

“Navigating the global wild-wild-west of PPE was an interesting ride in March of 2020, from arranging specialized air filters to airdrop from Switzerland, to designing a face shield for our magnification glasses with a plastics company, to at one point having six orders for masks out internationally,” Zechmann said.

Zechmann opened the Daniel Island practice in June 2018 because she wanted to work close to home and be part of a small community to support local events and charities. Zechmann said she strives “to be a positive influence on the community through oral health care, philanthropy and volunteerism.”

The practice offers a serene setting and state of the art equipment to put patients at ease in the dental chair.

“First and foremost, we strive for an exceptional patient experience, from timeliness, to financials, to completing the dentistry as comfortably as possible while you watch a movie above the chair,” Zechmann said. “RLD has invested in a lot of advanced technology including a 3D CBCT imaging machine, CAD/CAM same-day crown technology, digital scanners and more.”

River Landing Dentistry offers a wide variety of services including Invisalign orthodontics, treatment of sleep apnea, and sedation.

“We can do this because our three doctors, myself, Dr. Ellen and Dr. Patel all focus on niches within dentistry,” Zechmann explained. “We are a relationship-based practice, our patients are our friends in the office and in the community.”

Kathy Markham appreciates the dental insurance plan offered by the office and the safety measures followed by the staff.

“When you park you let them know you arrived and a staff person meets you at your car and takes you directly into the exam room — not through a waiting room — everyone is masked and diligent about sanitizing the room,” she said. “They provide TV screens on the ceiling and check to be sure you are comfortable throughout the procedure. They have state of the art equipment and can make crowns on the spot — no need to have a temporary crown and wait days for the real one.”

Daniel Island resident Richard Surmanek likes River Landing Dentistry’s convenient location and the staff’s friendly demeanor. “They immediately put you at ease and their dental work expertise is impeccable.”

Before moving to Daniel Island, James Cummaro had the same dentist in New York for years. After moving to the area, he was thrilled to find Zechmann’s high tech office. “Without question, Dr. Z and her team are the best dental practice I have ever been to ... I never thought I would say this but I actually like going to the dentist now.”
