Venus doubles the Williams count for the 2009 FCC

World No. 6 Venus Williams, a seven-time Grand Slam champion and 2004 Family Circle Cup titlist, has officially entered the 2009 Family Circle Cup.  Making her fourth appearance in Charleston, Williams boasts a 10-2 record at this event, including a semifinal appearance in 2007.  She joins World No. 1 Serena Williams and World No. 7 Vera Zvonareva in the 2009 Family Circle Cup player field as three Top 10 players are set to headline the Family Circle Cup, a Premier Event on the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour, scheduled April 11-19 at the Family Circle Tennis Center in Charleston, SC.


Family Circle Cup individual sessions tickets now on sale

No word yet on whether Maria Sharapova will enter the 2009 FCC. Tickets went on sale last week.
Family Circle Cup individual session tickets went on sale to the public through Ticketmaster starting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, and will be available 24 hours a day on-line by visiting www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets can also be ordered through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone at (800) 745-3000, or at any local Publix location offering Ticketmaster services. The Family Circle Cup, America’s oldest all-women’s professional tennis event, is scheduled for April 11-19, 2009 at the Family Circle Tennis Center in Charleston, South Carolina.

 


FCTC Holiday Tennis Classic raises funds for two local charities

The Family Circle Tennis Center hosted the first annual Adult Holiday Tennis Classic, presented by Allstate-Wally Burbage & Associates, from December 5 - 7 on Daniel Island. Over 160 players from the Charleston tri-county area participated in NTRP Singles, Doubles, and Mixed competition, with each receiving a Dunlop backpack as a player gift.
