DI HISTORICAL SOCIETY APRIL PROGRAM

Date:
Tuesday, April 23, 2019 - 7:00pm

The Daniel Island Historical Society will offer a “double header” on Tues. April 23, focusing on two important topics relevant to Charleston area history. The program will start at 6:30 pm, 30 minutes earlier than usual, to celebrate the birthday of the late Gov. Robert Daniell, the island’s namesake. A native of England, Daniell was born on April 20, 1646 and lived on Daniel Island for the latter part of his life. DIHS co-founder Mike Dahlman will give a short talk about Daniell’s life. At 7 pm, the main program will begin, featuring a presentation by guest speaker Katherine Sanders Pemberton, manager of research and education at the Historic Charleston Foundation, who will discuss “Hidden History: The Walled City of Charles Town.” www.dihistoricalsociety.com.
