'History Under the Stars' Campout & Movie Night
Sat., Oct. 13 – Sun., Oct. 14. Smythe Park on Daniel Island. Well shiver me timbers! It’s almost time for the Daniel Island Historical Society’s annual “History Under the Stars Campout and Movie Night!” This year’s program is pirate-themed, so prepare to walk the plank! OK, maybe not…but there will be plenty of other swashbuckling activities on deck. Charleston’s very own “Pirate Lady” – Sabrina Lavender of Charleston Pirate Tours – will be sharing all kinds of great local pirate lore and legends for pirate fans of all ages. Did you know that 2018 is the 300th anniversary of Blackbeard’s blockade in Charleston? DIHS will also be showing the movie “The Pirates! Band of Misfits” on a big outdoor screen. And of course all the traditional “History Under the Stars” fun is returning….fellowship on the great lawn at Smythe Park at the event campsite, s’mores around the fire, and breakfast Sunday morning provided by Honeycomb Café. A minimum of 60 families are needed to make the event happen, so please reserve your space now! To register, visit http://dihistoricalsociety.com/calendar-of-events/.
