Bike Safety Bonanza!

More than 60 bike riders on Daniel Island enjoyed a “wheel” good time at Daniel Island School (DIS) on Saturday, October 17. The group, made up of parents, kids and other community members, gathered for a free “Bike Safety Bonanza” sponsored by the DIS PTA, City of Charleston Police Department, Cooper River Cycles, MUSC, Safe Kids, and the Daniel Island Community Fund. Participants took advantage of safety checks, registrations, adjustments, proper helmet fitting, minor repairs, instructions for effective locking, and other safety measures. According to Rindy Ryan of the DIS PTA, police officers registered about 63 bikes at the event.
