Celebrate Independence Day on Daniel Island

This year’s Fourth of July celebration on Daniel Island is multifold. In addition to the July 3rd parade, concerts and fireworks at Smythe Park, the island will also commemorate America’s independence with the Field of Honor and with a poolside celebration.

4TH ANNUAL “FIELD OF HONOR”– JUNE 29 – JULY 13

Beginning on the afternoon of June 29, the Exchange Club of Daniel Island will host its 4th annual Field of Honor® display of over 600 American flags. The flags will stand on the grassy lawn median area on River Landing Drive and in Smythe Park. The flags honor military, veterans, first responders, teachers and other hometown heroes.

PATRIOTIC PARADE, WEDNESDAY, JULY 3RD – 6 P.M.

Join the parade! Arrive to line up for the parade by 5:45 p.m. at the Bishop England parking lot on the track and field side of the school. Bikes, golf carts, wagons, strollers and walkers are all welcome! The parade begins promptly at 6 p.m.

The parade route travels from Bishop England along Seven Farms Drive, then right onto Etiwan Park Street, then left onto Barfield Street to Daniel Island Drive, then right onto Daniel Island Drive to Smythe Park. The parade will end at the Daniel Island Drive and Purcell Lane intersection. Guests may use the Daniel Island School parking lots as well as street parking for all event parking.

FREE CONCERTS AND FIREWORKS ON THE LAKE AT SMYTHE PARK

Immediately following the parade and beginning at 7 p.m., there will be back to back lakeside concerts at Smythe Park as well as food vendors and activities for the whole family in the park. Smythe Park is located along Daniel Island Drive, Purcell Lane, Smythe Street and Pierce Street.

The Charleston Community Band’s Stars and Stripes Fanfare Patriotic Concert will be from 7 to 8 p.m., followed by the Andrew Thielen Band and Orchestra’s presentation of contemporary favorites and patriotic tunes from 8 to 10 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:15 p.m.

Activities in the park include: an area to tie dye t-shirts, balloon art, face painting, glitter tattoos, a glam studio, games, arts and crafts, patriotic light up merchandise, a photo booth bus, and a customizable “Edutainment” Party Bus.

Bring your own picnic and cooler or purchase from onsite food vendors. Options include: nonalcoholic beverages, BBQ, hamburgers, chicken, pizza, hot dogs, and frozen treats.

Personal tents are prohibited in Smythe Park for this event. Bring chairs, blankets and tables.

JULY 4TH POOLSIDE CELEBRATION

Rounding out the July 4th celebration is a pool party for Daniel Island residents and their guests at Pierce Park Pavilion and Pool, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 4. This fun, family-friendly event will include pool games, music and food vendors.
