Daniel Island Park Day set for Nov. 11

New location, new events, and new activities!

Park Day, Daniel Island’s popular annual fall festival, will take place at Etiwan Park, located on Seven Farms Drive across from Bishop England High School, on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

An autumn tradition in the Lowcountry, Park Day offers outdoor family fun and entertainment for all ages, while showcasing and supporting a diverse range of local charitable organizations.

New activities planned for this year’s event include Lowcountry Bubble Soccer, 3 hole disc golf, golf pong, giant hamster balls, a human foosball game and several popular tailgating games. Also planned are new and unique carnival activities and character photo booths created by Kris Manning of Feral Creative and Black Tie Music Academy. Teacups and Trucks will delight with their dog-themed art station, including arts and crafts to wear and a fun bubble zone.

Another new offering this year will be a specially designated “Pet Zone” at Park Day featuring non-profit organizations, pet adoptions, shopping for your favorite four-legged friends and more!

Past Park Day favorites such as the slides and jump castles, pony rides carousel, petting zoo for kids and the Dynamo Dog’s Agility Demonstrations with Dean Werts will return this year. Face painters and balloon artists will also once again join in on the fun.

Be sure to catch the performances on the Park Day stage, including Greg Walker, Master of Ceremonies and DJ for the afternoon’s activities; the Summerville High School Steel Drum Band; Daniel Island’s Peace Love Hip Hop; Island Aikido; and the headliner for the afternoon – Dave Landeo & The Sol Beats. Dave and his entourage of talented musicians bring together a strong presence with their renditions of classic pop, funk, rock, dance, country, reggae, beach and overall “fun music” for their audience.

Park Day will also offer extensive food and beverage options with a total of 18 food and beverage vendors, including a “Food Truck Rodeo” with Charleston’s favorite food trucks, collectively offering tasty lunch items of all kinds. “Field of Treats On The Go” cart vendors will also be on hand, along with multiple Park Day concession vendor favorites. The Daniel Island Grille will set up an on-site sports pub, offering food, wine, beer and several big screen TV’s for watching your favorite college football games.

Since its inception 16 years ago, Park Day has helped raise more than $370,000 for a diverse collection of more than 64 area non-profit organizations, making it one of the region’s most successful and broad-reaching charitable events. Once again this year, proceeds from ticketed activities will benefit our chosen 2017 Park Day non-profit beneficiary – Pet Helpers.

Admission and parking are free. In order to raise money for the benefiting non-profit organization, most but not all activities require a fee. For more information, visit www.danielislandparkday.com.
