TEN YEARS AGO - Fitness stations added to bike bath on DI
The August 30, 2007 issue of The Daniel Island News featured the new fitness stations on the bike path behind Bishop England. The new fitness trail included four separate stations. Each station was complete with exercises for the lower and upper body, abdominals/core, and something to boost the heart rate. One station was devoted mostly to stretching, but other exercises may be completed there as well. Each station included instructions on the exercises to be completed there.
In other news, Charleston Police Chief Greg Mullen, who recently retired, gave a heroism award to Huger resident Rufus Lockwood after the then 80-year old former Marine helped a police officer subdue a gun-toting suspect near Clements Ferry Road. Lockwood also made the news in this week’s issue. (See story on page 30).
