FIFTEEN YEARS AGO
The December 18, 2003 issue of The Daniel Island News featured an article about the Team 10 police officers from the City of Charleston. Team 10 covered Daniel Island at the time (the job now falls to Team 5). Also in the news was a review of the movie “Big Fish,” as well as a restaurant review of Mt. Pleasant’s The Mustard Seed. Many of the paper’s advertisers suggested purchasing specials from their businesses for Christmas gifts.
TEN YEARS AGO
The centerspread in the December 18, 2008 issue of The Daniel Island News included a shopping guide from our advertisers listing their most popular gifts available for purchase. In business news, Blackbaud announced its intention to renew its lease for another 15 years. The global software company employed 1200 at its Daniel Island headquarters on Daniel Island Drive at the time. The company’s headquarters has since moved to a new location on Fairchild Street. In Kids Say, children were asked to describe the best gift they ever gave someone.
FIVE YEARS AGO
The main news story in the December 19, 2013 issue of The Daniel Island News spotlighted the four individuals appointed by Governor Nikki Haley to serve on the Daniel Island Annexation Commission. The commission was formed, as per state law, to evaluate the pros and cons of a potential annexation of Daniel Island from Berkeley County to Charleston County.
In business news, it was announced that Benefitfocus was to expand, adding over 1200 jobs to Daniel Island-based business.
