TEN YEARS AGO - LOCAL FARMERS MARKETS

In the May 25, 2006 edition of the paper the centerfold stories and theme of the paper was local produce and farmers markets. At the time, there was not a market on Daniel Island but locals frequented the Mt. Pleasant and N. Charleston Farmers Markets.

FIVE YEARS AGO - MORE DEBIT/CREDIT CARD FRAUD CASES

In the May 26, 2011 edition of the paper the top news story was that the list of victims of debit/credit card fraud on Daniel Island was growing. Both island residents and island employees have been affected. City of Charleston Police and the Charleston office of the United States Secret Service were investigating the string of cases. After an article on the subject appeared in the previous week’s Daniel Island News, multiple new cases have been reported to the paper via phone, email and Facebook postings. Approximately 30 people have notified the paper about their debit or credit card numbers being compromised in recent weeks. Unauthorized charges continued to be posted all across the United States and at international locations.
