Duck season is now open!

Donations support Charleston area nonprofits along with Rotary service projects and allow for a chance to win up to $10,000!

Established in 2007, the Charleston Duck Race is an annual Rotary Club charity event and Lowcountry favorite that continues to grow each year. This year nine local Rotary Clubs are coming together for this 100% volunteer-led initiative with all net proceeds benefiting dozens of local charities and Rotary service projects both locally and around the world. The 2019 Charleston Duck Race will take place at Smythe Lake on Daniel Island on Saturday, June 1, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and is part of an evening of family fun that partners once again with the Daniel Island Property Owners Association “Sounds of Summer” concert series. There will be games, jump castles, face painters, food vendors, live music, and more.

“It is truly remarkable to see Rotarians from across the entire Charleston area coming together to make this event possible and to support so many worthy local charities,” said George Roberts, this year’s “Head Duck” leading the charge for the 2019 Race. “This year Rotary Clubs from Summerville, North Charleston, John’s Island, Mt. Pleasant, and Daniel Island are teaming up to make this the biggest and best Duck Race ever, so we can give back even more to the community!”

While duck adoptions will support Charleston area nonprofits and Rotary service projects, the winning rubber duck that crosses the finish line first could win a cash prize of up to $10,000. Since the Race’s inception, this event has raised over $1.5 million for Rotary projects worldwide and local organizations like Trident Technical College. “The gift from the Rotary Club supports our Youth Apprenticeship program which is helping to address critical workforce needs in our region. We are grateful for this generous support,” stated Lisa E. Piccolo, Executive Director of the Trident Technical College Foundation.

“We are excited to be back at Smythe Lake again this year and looking forward to a great turnout. We regularly have incredible community support including wonderful sponsors who play a key role in the event’s success,” added Roberts.
