Election Day 2015: DI/Cainhoy voters - here's what you need to know
When City of Charleston voters on Daniel Island and the Cainhoy Peninsula head to the polls on November 3 to elect both a new Mayor and a representative for District 1 on City Council, they will cast their ballots at Daniel Island School (DIS). No other polling sites will be open that day, as per Berkeley County Voter Registration & Elections Director Adam Hammons.
All precincts - Cainhoy, Daniel Island 1, Daniel Island 2, Daniel Island 3, Daniel Island 4, The Village, and Yellow House - will report to DIS. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. There are approximately 9,515 registered voters in Berkeley County who have an opportunity to participate in the upcoming Charleston municipal election. Running for Mayor are Ginny Deerin, William Dudley Gregorie, Toby Smith, Leon Stavrinakis, John Tecklenburg, and Maurice Washington. Any run-off election will be held on Tuesday, November 17.
Vying for the District 1 seat on City Council are Daniel Island residents Gary White (incumbent) and Shawn Pinkston. District 1 encompasses all of Daniel Island, most of the Cainhoy Peninsula, and portions of downtown Charleston.
All voters will be asked to provide one of the following types of Photo ID at their polling place:
*S.C. Driver’s License
*S.C. DMV Identification Card
*S.C. Voter Registration Card with a Photo
*Federal Military ID
*U.S. Passport
