Junior Achievement volunteers visit DIS kindergartners
On Monday, April 24, Berkeley County School Board Member Mac McQuillin and his wife, Kim, volunteered with Junior Achievement (JA), teaching with a kindergarten class at the Daniel Island School.
JA is a volunteer driven organization whose mission is to prepare young people to succeed in the global economy, while providing them with the inspiration and tools to become financially independent adults.
“My wife and I volunteered with JA to spend time with students in our community,” said McQuillin, “and teach them important and practical lessons about earning, saving, and sharing money – it’s important because these students are the future.”
The McQuillins agreed that their favorite part of volunteering was “seeing the smiles and excitement on the children’s faces while they were learning.”
K-5 Lead Classroom teacher Kim Card was pleased to see her students “fully engaged in learning about a subject that will be important to them for the rest of their lives.”
In addition to serving on the Berkeley County School Board, McQuillin also serves on the Junior Achievement of Greater South Carolina Coastal Area Board of Directors.
