Knox wins 'Top Dog' of Daniel Island prize for August!
Daniel Island’s furry friends are still in the spotlight as the Daniel Island Property Owners Association’s “Top Dogs of Daniel Island Contest” continues. There were plenty of picture-perfect pet moments in August, but little Knox, a young Golden Retriever, stole the show and landed the “Top Dog” title last month! The POA asked Knox’s owner to tell us more about this playful pup.
How did Knox come to join your family?
We have always dreamed of getting a golden retriever puppy, and after some research we came across Knox’s breeder. Knox was the last one available in his litter. The breeder was originally going to give him to his daughter, which thankfully didn’t work out. We picked him up and he has been such a joy in our lives ever since!
When/how did Knox come to be a dog of Daniel Island?
We picked him up on August 19th when he was 12 weeks old. He currently lives with us at Talison Row on Daniel Island.
What are some of Knox’s favorite ways to spend time on Daniel Island?
Knox loves going on long walks, visiting Lucia’s for treats and toys, and going to the dog park to meet new friends, play fetch, and jump in mud puddles. What do you like about having a dog on Daniel Island? We love that this is such a dog-friendly town. Due to the fact that we are newer to the area, we have found that it’s much easier to make friends when you have a dog. There are plenty of dogs for him to socialize and play with and lots of outdoor space for him to explore!
What is Knox’s favorite treat, toy or game?
Knox will do anything and everything for a treat. Even though he’s only 15 weeks old, he knows a lot of tricks and as soon as we pull out his bag of Blue Wilderness beef treats he is ready to show off what he knows! He loves playing with his toy duck, but he also loves staying busy while chewing on bones.

Knox will celebrate by flaunting his new Daniel Island collar as he plays with his friends at the dog park!
Is there a favorite story or fact about Knox that you’d like to share?
We have family in Ravenel and they have a pool so they invited us all to come swim for Labor Day. I was nervous about how Knox would react around the water, but the second he approached the pool he wasted no time and jumped right in! It was nearly impossible for us to get him to leave their house because he had so much fun playing fetch and swimming with the other dogs!
