Land use and zoning activities on Daniel Island

These are the issues being brought before the various City of Charleston boards and committees that are specific to land use and zoning on Daniel Island. City of Charleston Technical Review Committee (TRC) — At the last meeting on Nov. 2, the 297 Seven Farms Dr. commercial site plan was deferred for revisions and resubmittal to TRC. The applicant on the Home2Suites Hotel site plan was also asked to revise and resubmit PDFs to TRC members as needed, and after in-house approval, they are to submit six copies and a cd of the PDF to zoning for stamping. The next meeting will be held on Nov. 9 and there are no issues of impact to Daniel Island on the agenda.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design (BZA-SD) — The next meeting will take place on Dec. 6. The agenda is not yet published.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning (BZA-Z) — The most recent meeting took place on Nov. 7. On the agenda were plans for 65 Fairchild Street (Zoned DI-TC). The Owner-HPBB1, LLC / Applicant-Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice requested a variance from Sec. 54-414 to allow two freestanding signs (the ordinance allows one double-faced sign per lot). The next meeting will be held on Nov. 21. The agenda is not yet published.

City of Charleston Design Review Board (DRB) — The most recent meeting was held on Nov. 6. On the agenda was the request for conceptual approval for the construction of a new office building at 297 Seven Farms Drive.

City of Charleston Planning Commission (PC) — The next meeting will take place on Nov. 15. On the agenda to discuss is the request for subdivision concept plan approval for Fairbanks Drive.
