Land use and zoning activities on Daniel Island

These are the issues being brought before the various City of Charleston boards and committees that are specific to land use and zoning on Daniel Island. All meetings are open for public comment except the TRC meetings. For more information on any of these proposed actions, including location and time of meetings, please email president@dineighborhoodassociation.org.

City of Charleston Technical Review Committee (TRC) — At the June 13 meeting, the subdivision concept plan for Cainhoy South Hopewell Residential committee members asked that the subdivision concept be revised and resubmitted to TRC. The next meeting will be held on June 20 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island/Cainhoy on the agenda.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design (BZA-SD) — At the next meeting on July 3, the request for a variance from Sec. 54-327 to allow the removal of one grand tree at 145 Nobels Point Street on Daniel Island will be discussed.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning (BZA-Z) — The most recent meeting was held on June 18 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island/Cainhoy discussed.

City of Charleston Design Review Board (DRB) — At the most recent meeting on June 17, the request for conceptual approval for a new 2-story mixed-use building at River Landing Village was discussed and deferred.

City of Charleston Planning Commission (PC) — At the most recent meeting on June 19, the request for subdivision concept plan approval at Jack Primus Road and at Cainhoy South Hopewell Residential were discussed.
