Land use and zoning activities on Daniel Island

These are the issues being brought before the various City of Charleston boards and committees that are specific to land use and zoning on Daniel Island. All meetings are open for public comment except the TRC meetings. City of Charleston Technical Review Committee (TRC) — At the next meeting on June 27, a site plan for Woodfield Daniel Island 2, a 251-unit apartment development to be located on Robert Daniel Drive, will be discussed, along with a preliminary subdivision plat to extend Robert Daniel Drive and add a cul-de-sac. Also on the agenda is the Oak Bluff Phase 1C preliminary subdivision plat and road construction plans (this 63-acre development is located off Clements Ferry Road).

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design (BZA-SD) — The next meeting will be held on July 3. On the agenda is a request for a variance from Sec. 54-327 to allow the removal of one grand tree at 145 Nobels Point Street on Daniel Island.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning (BZA-Z) — The next meeting will be held on July 16. The agenda is not yet published.

City of Charleston Design Review Board (DRB) — At the most recent meeting on June 17, the request for conceptual approval for a new 2-story mixed-use building at River Landing Village was deferred with staff comments and board comments to restudy the structure’s west façade. The next meeting will be held on July 15. The agenda is not yet published.

City of Charleston Planning Commission (PC) — The next meeting will be held on July 17. The agenda is not yet published.
