Land use and zoning activities on Daniel Island

These are the issues being brought before the various City of Charleston boards and committees that are specific to land use and zoning on Daniel Island. City of Charleston Technical Review Committee (TRC) — The most recent meeting was held on July 19 and discussed the road construction plans for the extension of Robert Daniel Drive, as well as the proposed new roundabout on Daniel Island Drive and associated improvements. Minor comments were provided and after in-house approval both are being sent to Engineering for stamping. The next meeting will be held on July 26. The agenda is not yet published.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Site Design (BZA-SD) — The next meeting will be August 1 with no issues of impact to Daniel Island on the agenda.

City of Charleston Board of Zoning Appeals – Zoning (BZA-Z) — The next meeting will be held on August 7. The agenda is not yet published.

City of Charleston Design Review Board (DRB) — The most recent meeting was held on July 12 and discussed the conceptual approval for the construction of St. Clare of Assisi church, administration, and classroom buildings. The motion was made to defer in order to restudy the height and size of the spire/base, evaluate the orientation of the sanctuary/structures, move the transformer to the chiller area, and focus on phase one of the next submittal. The next meeting will be held on August 6. The agenda is not yet published.

City of Charleston Planning Commission (PC) — The next meeting will be held on August 16. The agenda is not yet published.
