Burglary
Police officers with Daniel Island-based Team 5 are investigating a reported burglary that took place at a residence on Scott Street in Etiwan Park between October 30 and 31. Items taken from the garage and a vehicle parked inside include a wallet, cooler, tools and sporting goods. According to police, there was no sign of forced entry.
Embezzlement
The employee of a company on Clements Ferry Road has been terminated after being charged with embezzlement. The suspect is accused of using the company gas card about 200 times, fraudulently acquiring some $5000 worth of fuel over a two week period, stated Lt. James Byrne of Team 5.
Thefts from motor vehicle
In the early morning hours of November 5, a suspect or suspects entered several unlocked vehicles in the Center Park area and made off with multiple items, including a purse and electronics. The cases remain under investigation.
Additionally, items were taken from the inside of a vehicle parked on Royal Assembly in Beresford Hall between November 10 and 11. That vehicle was also unlocked, according to police. The glove box and center console were emptied out. The victim noticed that money and a pair of sunglasses were missing.
Multiple trailer larcenies
A trailer was stolen from a residential property on Fogarty Lane, off Clements Ferry Road, between November 3 and 7. According to police, it is not known if the trailer was locked or secured at the time of the theft. Between November 15 and 17, another trailer was reported stolen - this time from a property on Old Brick Lane. Police are uncertain as to whether or not it was unsecured. Police are also investigating the theft of a trailer off Technology Drive that occurred sometime on or after November 15.
Collision leads to citation for marijuana
A female driver involved in a collision on I-526 near the Clements Ferry Road exit on November 8 has been cited for marijuana possession. The officer investigating at the scene of the accident noticed a “strong odor” of the drug coming from the vehicle, stated Lt. Byrne. The driver then produced marijuana in a container. The woman, a James Island resident, was cited and released.
Stolen political signs
Police received a call from a resident on Daniel Island Drive on October 29 that someone had removed a Presidential political sign from the property’s yard. On November 6, a replacement sign was taken from the same yard. Five days later, an envelope was found in the victim’s mailbox expressing dissatisfaction with the victim’s choice of candidates. It was signed “the majority of American voters.”
Larceny from gas station
Police are seeking two suspects involved in a theft from a gas station on Clements Ferry Road on November 12. According to Lt. Byrne, one of the suspects attempted to distract the store clerk, while another made off with several cartons of cigarettes from the manager’s office.
Theft from building
An apartment complex office on Enterprise Boulevard on the Cainhoy Peninsula reported on November 16 that a small kitchen appliance had been stolen from the property’s common area.
