Ten and Five Years Ago in The Daniel Island News
In the August 3, 2006 issue of the Daniel Island News, the feature article was dedicated to the opening of the new Daniel Island School. The PTA Board known as the “The Dream Team” consisted of Karen Smith as President, David Hand as Business Liaison, and Sara Powell in charge of Ways and Means. Each member of the board brought something to the table and spent countless hours working to get the school ready to open. “What they have accomplished to me is phenomenal, “said Carolyn Morris, the principal of the new school. “I’ve never worked with a parent community this devoted. I know that they have other jobs, many of them, and the hours they put into this PTA have been amazing. They’ve worked tirelessly and I just feel so grateful to each and every one of them.” In other news, it was announced that the Gin Blossoms would be opening for the annual Hootie & The Blowfish Homegrown Concert, an annual musical event in South Carolina aimed at helping school-aged children by providing necessary school supplies to schools in need. This year’s concert is this coming weekend.
