2018 SUMMER READING PROGRAM
This year’s theme is “Libraries Rock” and will be held from June 4 - July 30. Libraries rock and you can, too, by reading for prizes this summer! Register at www.berkeleylibrarysc.org.
 
‘GIVE OUR BOOKS NEW LOOKS’ CONTEST!
Calling all third through fifth grade artists! Design a new cover or draw a scene from your favorite book during the month of July and August and enter to win a prize. Stop in at the library for details!
 
SAVANNAH BALLOONS
Tuesday, July 10, 2:30 p.m. (ticketed event). Balloons and books rock! It’s a fun romp through balloons and the music they make! Family event.

#JAMSESH FOR TEENS
Thursday, July 12, 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. Love creating music with others? Invite some friends, bring your instruments and jam out at the Daniel Island Library!
 
TEEN MOVIE AFTERNOON
First and third Thursdays, June 21 - Aug 16, 3:30 5:50 p.m. Watch a movie, have a bite, see your friends. Films include: Thor: Ragnarok; Mean Girls; Wrinkle in Time; Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and more!
 
HARRY POTTER’S BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
Tuesday, July 31, 1 - 3 p.m. Celebrate Harry’s birthday at your library with a movie and Potter-inspired crafts! Snacks will be provided. Family event.
 
MASTER GARDENERS Q&A
Monday, July 9, 4 - 6 p.m. Trained and Certifi¬ed Clemson Extension Tri-County Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about all aspects of gardening.
 
MODERN EAST ASIA LECTURES
Thursdays, weekly, July 26 - Sept 27, 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Join Dr. Lester Pittman in an exploration of our modern world through Asian eyes with lectures, videos, and discussion, about China, Japan, and Korea.
 
CHILDREN’S STORYTIME
Mondays at 10:30 and 11 a.m. Come listen to stories and dance with friends at Storytime. Storytime is open for all children and incorporates multi-sensory activities.
 
RECORDER CLASS
Tuesdays, 2 - 3 p.m. For beginning or “rusty” adults and teens who want to learn to play in a group setting.  Prior recorder or other musical experience not required.
 
TAI CHI
Every Tuesday and Friday, 9 to 10 a.m. An ancient form of exercise for all ages using slow, smooth body movements.
 
DI NEEDLEWORKERS
Every second and fourth Tuesday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Bring your quilt, appliqué, embroidery, or any portable needle project and stay for a while to sew, make new friends and chat.
 
DI SOCIAL BRIDGE GROUP
Every second Friday and fourth Monday, 1 to 4 p.m. Do you play bridge or used to play? Want to play again for fun, mental exercise, and meet interesting people? Are you a beginner or have no partner? Singles and couples welcome!
 
DI BOOK CLUB
Tuesdays, July 17 and August 21, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Be part of a lively discussion about some popular and chat-worthy books. Was it a thumbs up or thumbs down? Come share your thoughts. July 17: “Go Went Gone” by Jenny Erpenbeck. August 21: “The Girl With Seven Names” by Hyeonseo Lee.
