Operation Christmas Child
Dozens of volunteers of all ages gathered on Nov. 4 to take part in a shoebox packing party for Operation Christmas Child at Church of the Holy Cross on Daniel Island. The international OCC initiative, a part of Samaritan’s Purse, distributes hundreds of thousands of shoeboxes filled with gifts to needy children around the world each year. As of Nov. 20, close to 25,000 boxes had been packed in the Charleston area. Romania native Tania Frenti, a former OCC box recipient, took part in the Daniel Island event to share her story and help volunteers pack boxes.
