Kate Jerome launches two new children’s book collections

Daniel Island resident Kate Jerome, a seasoned publishing executive and award-winning author who has written more than 100 children’s books, can now add two more book series to her long list of works. Both are part of her “Read Together/Do Together” collection.

Jerome has penned “Lucky to Live in South Carolina,” part of a series in which each title serves as a cross between a storybook and a memory book. Read-aloud rhymes and fill-in-the-blank prompts are designed to capture a child’s story - customized to area in which the child lives. Jerome has written additional “Lucky to Live” books showcasing other states and regions. The left-hand pages set the stage for an interesting topic and the right-hand pages invite children to record their own views to create a personal history book.

“It’s no secret that kids thrive when they have meaningful conversations with caring adults,” said Jerome. “But in our busy world, it’s not easy to find ways to make this happen, so I developed ‘Read Together/Do Together’ to help parents and grandparents create those magic moments.”

Jerome has also recently released her new “Wise Animal Handbook” series, a collection designed to help parents and grandparents capitalize on the power of laughter to foster intergenerational connections. Each book features engaging color photos of animals in humorous situations while read-aloud rhymes open the door for meaningful conversations about everything from honesty and grit to perseverance and play.

“My sincere hope is the books inspire the kinds of conversations that bring out the laughter and love that already exists between kids and their favorite adults,” added Jerome. “…I strongly believe these kinds of ‘vertical connections’ are mutually beneficial to both.”

Jerome completed a Fellowship in the Distinguished Careers Institute at Stanford University in 2015, an experience that served as inspiration for her newly published works, she said. Jerome was selected to present a TEDx talk on the subject of intergenerational communication in 2016. Blackbaud announces promotions

Blackbaud, the world’s leading cloud software company powering social good, recently announced that Patrick Hodges has been promoted to senior vice president of global sales and has joined the company’s executive leadership team. Additionally, seasoned executive Jeff Moses has been named vice president of sales at Blackbaud for its general markets group, effective April 18.

Hodges, who will report directly to President and CEO Mike Gianoni, will lead Blackbaud’s overall sales strategy and global sales operating model. He will be tasked with driving sales excellence across vertical and horizontal markets, overseeing Blackbaud’s growing presence in regional engagement centers across North America, strengthening the company’s international footprint and building a cohesive sales process and experience across market groups to optimize performance and customer experience.
