'The Cigar Factory' comes to life on Daniel Island!

Michele Moore, author of the acclaimed novel The Cigar Factory, shared the story behind her story at a February 21 program hosted by the Daniel Island Historical Society. More than 100 people turned out to hear Moore’s presentation, which detailed the behind-the-scenes world of the working people of Charleston, black and white, who came together in the now iconic Cigar Factory on East Bay Street in a racially divisive, early 20th century Charleston.
