DIPAC plans thank you event, names board members

The Daniel Island Performing Arts Center, fresh off a recent benefit concert at Wharf 7 that generated some $25,000 in new fundraising dollars, is planning another event to recognize and thank those who have become part of the non-profit organization’s Founders Circle. The November 17 event, intended to celebrate “the past year of support from Daniel Island residents,” will be held at the Wharf 7 Community Room from 6 to 9 p.m. Certificates will be awarded to Founder’s Circle members and there will be new opportunities for additional patrons to join the DIPAC family of donors. All are welcome. The event will feature cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and music by Abdiel. To RSVP, please send an email to diperformingartscenter@gmail.com.

In other DIPAC news, several community members have been appointed to the organization’s Board of Directors. They are Ed Jones, Chairman, Cornichon Healthcare Select; Stephen Russell, Vice Chairman, local architect; Nella Gray Barkley, Crystal-Barkley Corporation; Mason Holland, Benefitfocus; Jon Olson, Blackbaud; Laurie Hubbs, Life Coaching and Consultation; Jeff Oldham, Benefitfocus; and Terry Haas, River Landing Realty. Donations needed for Daniel Island OCC Packing Parties

‘Tis the season of giving - and the planners of two Operation Christmas Child (OCC) packing parties on Daniel Island need your help. Each year, the global OCC initiative provides thousands of gift wrapped shoe boxes filled with presents for children in need. Two shoebox assembly events will be held on Daniel Island, on November 13 and 16, at Honeycomb Café. But to make the parties a success, hundreds of filler items are still needed. Donations can be dropped off at Honeycomb Café. Ideas include toys (stuffed animal, trucks, dolls, yo-yos, jump rope, finger puppets, etc), shoes, accessories (t-shirts, socks, hats, sunglasses, hair bows, etc), school supplies, and non-liquid hygiene items such as a toothbrush, comb, or bar of soap. Other suggestions can be found at https://www.samaritanspurse.org/operation-christmas-child/what-goes-in-m.... For more information, email Oanh Dang at Oanhhd@gmail.com.
